What should Conan do now?

Taylor Trask

After last week’s NBC/Conan O’Brien debacle, I started thinking about Conan’s new found free-time.  There’s a major opportunity at stake here, and this is my advice on what to do with it.

    Taylor,

    Conan got robbed! I agree with every you said. I hope he goes to Fox. Take care!

  2. I think your ideas about keeping people engaged, guerilla filming of prototype/fun sketches etc. are all really good. Very similar to what Ashton Kutcher is doing, however there is one key thing that you didn’t cover;

    How do you monetize all the attention that Conan will inevitably get during this hiatus period of independent sketch-making?

    It sounds like Kutcher is using product placement and brand sponsorship to pull revenue. Would you have any other thoughts or ideas that might be more pertinent to Conan’s audience or himself as a comedian?

    Jake – the point isn’t for him to monetize these videos in the short term. The idea is to keep his new fan base engaged during the “down time” and then parlay that interest and content into the next real show.

    Later on, he can include this content as DVD extras, etc OR put it behind a paid login on the “new show” website.
